Leading Japan Photo Tours requires resourcefulness.  No matter how vigilant at Japan Dreamscapes (JDS) Photo Workshop Leader is checking weather charts and fine tuning tour dates, unexpected things happen.  Very literally, into everyone’s life a little rain may fall.  A Plan ‘B’ or even a Plan ‘C’ with a parallel itinerary is a necessity to ensure each client takes once in a lifetime photos while going on JDS Photo Tour Adventures.

The wealth of experience that JDS Photography Tour Leaders have is a large part of what makes versatility with itineraries possible.  Our workshop guides spend days, hours, week, and even years at this point in the field exploring Japan, specifically the off the beaten path locations near many of existing photo tour locations.  On some occasions, these outings beyond tours lead to discovering news paths and opportunities to create additions to our Japan Photo Tour offerings.

While exploring Niigata during winter in early 2019, our veteran Japan Photo Workshop Leader followed what he calls a “photographic hunch.”  He knew that Niigata is right in the middle of the migratory path for 1,000s of birds.  He felt that the opportunity here in Niigata was so rich that he would change up his usual routine of Hokkaido in January and offer visiting photographers the chance to enjoy amazing birding photography in warmer temperatures than on Japan’s northern island.  Our photo tour leader is trying introduce some lucky clients to the winter wonderland that is Niigata.
