The Japan Dreamscapes (JDS) Photography Workshop Leaders commonly check in with the rest of staff when leading a tour to give some feedback about how the tour is shaping up or anything worth mentioning in terms of going off the itinerary.

JDS’s veteran Japan Photo Guide has spent more than two decades exploring Japan, and he uses his expertise in photography coupled with his in-depth knowledge of weather charts to share breathtaking photo ops with all of his clients.  

Most recently, he was leading a Mt. Fuji Photography Workshop and was checking in.  He said, “Tomorrow there’ll be rain at Mt. Fuji.  We’re going to have an amazing day!”  I was initially a bit concerned because one of the most prized photos is the reflection of Mt. Fuji in one of the Fuji Five Lakes, but the rain made that impossible.  He assured me that tomorrow’s photos would be one in a million, and left it at that.

I foolishly did not trust in his skill to take the clients to one of the many treasured off the beaten path locations to share Mt. Fuji from a different perspective.  The photos he took that day may end of being part of a gallery that he will open after this Hokkaido Winter Photo Workshops are over and he is back in the Niigata Field Office to take stock of the spectacular photos he will have catalogued.

One of the most amazing photos is attached to this blog.  He mentioned that he used a one minute exposure to make the fiery orange autumn leaves even more radiant.  It truly seems as if the leaves will explode into a raging conflagration at any moment.  He has been to Fujisan for Japan Photo Tours 1,000s of times, and he is already looking forward to adding to that count next year.
