My annual Cherry Blossom Photo Tours appeal to so many visiting and native Japanese photographers each year.  The varieties, shades of different colors, the rarity, the various times the blossoms open across Japan, and their ephemeral blossom itself make sakura a captivating subject for any photographer.  For example, in some areas near the middle of Japan’s main island Honshu, there are over 1 kilometer of Kawazu sakura (Prunus lannesiana cv. Kawazu-zakura), some of the earliest blooming variety of sakura in Japan, and the trees are situated near a well-trafficked rail line, so the contrast between the hardened steel and the soft, inviting cherry blossoms make for amazing photo ops.  One advantage of being near an on the beaten path location is the amount of local Japanese wearing summer kimonos, yukatas.  It’s possible to get the perfect cultural shots with both traditional Japanese summer clothes and the precious pink petals of the Kawazu sakura.  At these events I stay with clients  every step to help you get those once in a lifetime gallery worthy cultural and Sakura photos.
