When people discuss clouds in the modern age, everyone thinks of storage space for their personal documents, videos, and other important files, but we think of clouds as accents for photos.  Thinking about what clouds add to a photo, it’s akin to what icing adds to cake.  Of course, the sponge cake base is delicious, but the icing addition adds so much to the presentation and flavor.  Clouds add the same flavor and character to photographs.  While taking photos on a Hokkaido Tour, the snowy landscapes are already stunning, but when the clouds are added to the photo’s composition, the photo becomes even more spectacular.

Even in the family of clouds itself, there are variations of clouds, and they all absorb and reflect light in different ways and dramatically change the quality of your photo.  If you have questions about exposure of HDR photography options, this is where your Japan Dreamscapes (JDS) Photo Tour Leader can help you make the correct choices by adding elements such polarizing filters to help clouds appear almost surreal in their brilliance.

Think about all the times you have spent admiring the clouds during a particularly colorful or breathtaking sunset.  Enjoying Hokkaido in winter, you will have your camera in hand so you can do more than enjoy the memory.  You will possess photographic evidence of your exploration of Hokkaido’s rugged winter beauty.
