Being the northern most prefecture on the Japan’s main island of Honshu, the cherry blossoms reach mankai, or full bloom, later than in the Kanto Region. Hirosaki park is one of the more famous locations in Aomori prefecture, and it has over 2,500 trees with many types of cherry blossoms, but there are several off the beaten path locations that will yield gallery worthy photos of Japan’s iconic sakura. Aomori is also home to the longest uninterrupted path of cherry blossom trees in all of Japan, over 20 kilometers of sakura and more than 6,000 individual trees line the path.
